OSC Travel Soccer Tryouts for 2023-24

Do you have a young soccer player in your family that loves the game? Would they like to play at a higher level than Rec Soccer?

We’d love to see them on Sunday, October 22!

OSC is holding travel soccer tryouts for 2023-24 at Wright National Soccer Campus. We use the following age brackets from US Soccer based on birth year:

• U8 - 2016 and younger
• U10 - 2015, 2014
• U12 - 2013, 2012
• U14 - 2011, 2010
• U16 - 2009, 2008
• U19 - 2007, 2006, 2005

Please keep in mind our “tryouts” are more of an open team practice than a competitive tryout. They give families a chance to see if OSC is a good fit for their player, and it gives Club the opportunity to gauge interest. Travel soccer requires a higher commitment from players and families than rec soccer.

Tryout times:

• U8 - 10am - 12pm
• U10 - 10am - 12pm
• U12 - 10am - 12pm
• U14 - 12:30pm - 2:30pm
• U16 - 12:30pm - 2:30pm
• U19 - 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Registration ahead of tryouts is strongly recommended, but not required, by visiting Registration.

Returning players should register as soon as possible. Rosters can fill up very quickly and spots cannot be guaranteed.

What is travel soccer?

The OSC Travel Program is for those players who are interested in playing at a higher level than rec soccer. The purpose of travel soccer is to further develop individual skills, as well as teamwork, through training sessions and games against clubs of similar caliber.

All teams typically participate in a state sanctioned league in the spring. These leagues are scheduled with 4-5 away and 4-5 home games. Coaches and families will decide if a team will enter any indoor/outdoor tournaments or any indoor leagues. These optional tournaments and indoor leagues are an additional cost beyond the OSC registration cost and are at the discretion of the coach.

Travel soccer is generally considered to be an 8-10 month (Nov-June) commitment for the child and parent.

Is your player interested in taking their game to a higher level?

Oneonta Soccer Club's U14 girls team has approximately five roster spots open for the 2021-22 indoor and outdoor seasons.

The U14 girls are hosting open practices/tryouts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Wright National Soccer Campus.

Come for a fun training/scrimmage session to check out what club soccer is all about and meet other players! If you know someone born in 2008-09 who loves soccer, please share!

OSC Team Training - Oneonta - August 16-19

OSC is pleased to announce our newest program - OSC Team Training for JV and Varsity players. Players entering 8-12 grades will get hands-on tactical skills and development with our talented coaching staff. Register your player/team today for $125/player. Training is August 16th - August 19th, 9am - 4pm, check-in at 8am at the Wright National Soccer Campus. Teams will be created based on your home school and each player that registers will receive a free t-shirt! Teams are required to bring their own pinneys and each player will need to bring their own ball.

Dear Members,

These past two months have been like nothing any of us has ever experienced before. The Novel Coronavirus Pandemic has caused disruption of our daily lives, including the organized soccer activities we all enjoy so much. Throughout this unprecedented and confusing time, the Oneonta Soccer Club Board of Directors have guided our decision making process by the fundamental principle that the health and safety of all players, coaches, parents and loved ones is our first priority. We would like to graciously thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation.

Last week our governing soccer body, Eastern New York Soccer Association released a memorandum that there will be no return to play until ENYYSA receives government permission. With that said, there are to be no gatherings (i.e. practices, scrimmages, etc.) until further notice. At this time the Oneonta Soccer Club has officially canceled our Spring Travel Soccer Season. We regret that we had to make this decision, and look forward to resuming activities as soon as it is safe to do so.

The Oneonta Soccer Club understands how important it is for coaches, parents and players to play organized soccer again. When play does resume in our area we will be providing opportunities for our members to get back on the pitch and enjoy the beautiful game locally. The Oneonta Soccer Club will also require compliance with safety measures that adhere to the CDC, Federal, and Local Government guidelines.

We know how difficult this time is for everyone, and the Oneonta Soccer Club urges everyone to remain resolute in taking the proper precautions, so that the progress we have collectively made in this fight against Coronavirus will lead us to returning to the pitch as soon as possible. The Oneonta Soccer Club will continue our dedication to providing the youth of our area a place to grow as athletes and young adults. Your support of our organization is greatly appreciated and The Oneonta Soccer Club hopes to continue building a strong future one day at a time.

OSC RECREATION SOCCER ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Spring Recreation Soccer Families,

The Oneonta Soccer Club Board of Directors has been actively monitoring the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) climate and situation. Given the recent actions taken in New York State and Otsego County, all OSC club sponsored training sessions, games, and activities will be suspended, until further notice. This includes the spring recreation soccer season.

Please note that the Oneonta Soccer Club shares your concerns and frustrations, however the health and wellness of our OSC extended family is our top priority. This is an ongoing situation that impacts our soccer community, as well as that of the community at-large. As we continue to meet and assess the current situation, the OSC will provide updates as needed. The OSC also would like to thank you, in advance for your patience as we work through any subsequent decisions.

ECC Spring College Showcase coming to OSC!

Oneonta Soccer club is excited to announce a partnership with Elite College Combine! ECC has been offering college showcase events in New England for the last 2 years and has worked with hundreds of players and nearly 50 coaches in bringing a unique opportunity to highlight you soccer skills in front of the area’s top college coaches.

Oneonta Soccer Club has secured at $20 discount exclusively for our OSC players! ECC will be bringing in 10-12 college coaches for a 3 hour session that is designed to mimic typical college warm-ups, drills, and game play. The event will offer Division I, II & III coaches, 3 hours of play, multiple full size fields, a detailed written evaluation and an event limit of 60 players. Due to the low player to coach ratio, each player has the opportunity to play in front of and meet all the coaches. In addition, each event is capped off with an on-field player/parent Q&A designed to answer all your college soccer and recruiting questions.

OSC Travel Soccer Tryouts – Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

The Oneonta Soccer Club, established in 1978, will be conducting tryouts for it’s 2018-19 travel soccer teams on Sunday, September 23rd at the Wright National Soccer Campus, Oneonta. Pre-registration for tryouts is encouraged, prospective players may register online via this link.

Tryouts are open to all age eligible players in the greater Oneonta area.

• 8U boys and girls (born in 2011 or 2012) • Check-in between 9:00am and 9:30. Tryout begins at 9:30am
• 10U boys and girls (born in 2009 or 2010) • Check-in between 10:00am and 10:30. Tryout begins at 10:30am

Fall Lit'l OSCers Program

The Lit’l OSCers program is the Oneonta Soccer Clubs premier development academy for the 3-5 year olds. Many of our players graduate from the Lit’l OSCers program and move up to the U8 travel program that is also run by the club.

The Fall session begins Sunday, September 9th at the Wright National Soccer Campus. The six one hour sessions are held at 11:30am on Sundays through October 21st (no session on September 16th). Cost to register is $40. Registration cost includes a Lit’l OSCers shirt and size 3 soccer ball. Online registration opens August 19th.

The program focuses on the foundational needs of every soccer player. We have one motto and that is “more touches on the ball”. In an effort to be sure that happens we supply every Lit’l OSCer with their own ball once they register for the program. This not only encourages a sense of ownership for their development but gives them a wonderful opportunity to continue their instruction at home with family and friends.

Our six week program is directed by a US Soccer Licensed professional. Our kids are always encouraged to have fun, make mistakes and give maximum effort during every session. We run sessions run in the Fall, Winter and Spring. This provides our Lit’l OSCers with a chance to get “more touches on the ball” all year long.

Elk’s Soccer Shoot – Sunday, August 12th

The Elk’s Soccer Shoot is coming back to Oneonta and boys & girls ages 8-13 can participate FOR FREE!

Show off your shooting skills and enjoy free lunch from Pizza 23 West! All participants will receive a treat for participating, top shooters in each of the 4 age groups will receive trophies and recognition as the Elk’s Local Soccer Shoot Champions. Champions go on to compete in the District Soccer Shoot, held the very same day. District Champions win gift certificates to local businesses such as Dick’s Sporting Goods AND are eligible to move on to the State Competition where there is a chance to win cash!
